How to Add Apple Books Promo Codes
Apple Books now only allows reviews from users who have "purchased" the book. That means that if you want your Booksprout readers to leave a review, they will need to get a promo code to officially download the book from the platform.
Apple Books can provide you with up to 250 codes, but this only applies to authors who sell their books directly through them. If you sell via a distributor, it's not possible to have access to these codes (as far as we know).
How to add promo codes to Booksprout
- On the book detail page, click Promo Codes (found on the right side of the page).
- Enter the number of promo codes you want to request and click Continue.
- When the promo codes are ready, you receive an email with additional details.
- Within the email you receive, click Download.
- In Booksprout, go to Books > Edit your Book > Go to eBook Sites tab.
- Upload the TXT file from Apple Books directly in the page, or copy the specific codes you want to make available to Booksprout users.

Do all readers get a code?
No, not all readers are going to be assigned a promo code automatically. We have a system in place so that those who wish to review on Apple Books can claim a code. Codes are only assigned when a reader goes to leave a review on Apple Books.
What happens if I run out of codes during a review campaign?
If you run out of codes while a review campaign is active, Apple Books will be removed from the requested review sites, and your readers will be able to proceed as if it had not been in the choices.
Can I give our codes if I don't sell directly through Apple Books?
No, it's not possible at the moment to get Apple Books codes via distributors. In this case, you won't be able to add Apple Books as a place for your readers to leave a review on.
